The Henry House was built in 1834 and now houses one of the most unique pubs in Halifax. The pub originally opened its doors in 1969 and has been in continual operation ever since. This old school British pub has a great tap list showcasing a range of local beers that rotate occasionally. They also serve tasty traditional British pub fare that is guaranteed to fill you up.

In addition to really good food and drink, this venue is like visiting a gone by era. This building is an excellent example of the Halifax House style consisting of a granite block façade, ironstone, and attic windows. It is a heritage listed property and is true to the era it represents. This is the place to come for a meal and a pint while admiring the stunning architecture while there.

The food is hearty and pairs well with cool winter nights and dark pints. They have pies, curries, Rubens, and chowders. They have a range of seafood options with the traditional fish and chips as one of their mainstays. They are true to their past yet stand up to the menus of today. It’s always satisfying and always enjoyable.

This pub is truly a wonderful experience and is best enjoyed with a plate of hot food, good company, and your favourite local ale. Their food is homemade and fresh. Their beers are great. The building is stunning and it’s particularly nice to visit and eat in the basement when they have the fire on. It gets quite cozy down there. The Henry House really is one of the most unique and special places to eat in all of Nova Scotia.
