Mamatsu is one of those unassuming places that just feels right. It is a super relaxed space and as soon as you enter you know that you’ve stumbled onto something really good. This place gets busy, maybe to its detriment, but this further suggests that it is worth the wait.

The food here is authentic. It’s made fresh to order and they've found a way to introduce otherwise unfamiliar menu items in a welcoming way to the clients that they serve. They have a vast menu that will please most palates, and their Dan Dan Noodles are particularly good.

This dish oozes with flavour. It has luscious noodles covered with fatty pork that is then smothered with a dangerously addictive spicy peanut sauce. It is then topped with fresh sliced green onions and crunchy crushed peanuts to add freshness and that oh so good crunch. This is just about the perfect meal in my opinion; rich, fatty, noodles with freshness and spice. I can’t think of anything that satisfies me more.

Mamatsu is legit. The food is excellent, the staff are friendly and the vibe is just right. It is a wonderful place to stop for lunch, but will also satisfy your hunger needs at dinnertime. They offer eat in and take out service, vegetarian options, and as much or as little spice as you want. It is a super casual establishment that serves next level food. They are definitely worth checking out the next time you find yourself in New Glasgow, and may even be worth making a special trip. This vibrant little restaurant is really elevating the New Glasgow dining scene.
