PINTS & PLATES: Serpent Judas Blonde Marinated Halloumi with Roasted Veg

Located at 5 Sussex St, Spryfield, NS, Serpent Brewing is Spryfield’s first and only craft brewery. They are new to the craft beer scene in Nova Scotia and focus on Belgian inspired beers. Their taproom is a welcoming space with trivia, karaoke, live music, and lots of great beer. They also have an outdoor patio and regularly have food trucks parked out front that serve up an assortment of delicious food to pair with Serpent’s range of Belgian beers. Our pick is their 33 Belgian Tripel as it is bold with lots of flavour. It’s a great sipper to share with friends.
PINTS & PLATES: Upstreet Commons Beer Brined Chicken Wings

Located at 612 Windmill Rd, Dartmouth, NS, Upstreet Brewing, originally a Prince Edward Island brewery, has since expanded to Nova Scotia where they are located within the Upstreet BBQ Brewhouse. What started out as a hobby in 2006 quickly became an Atlantic Canadian craft brewery with locations in both Nova Scotia and PEI. In addition to beer, Upstreet also makes a line of craft sodas, and most notably, Libra, a non-alcoholic beer line that has numerous styles and has received major international attention for a non-alcoholic beverage. Our pick is their Rhuby Social: Strawberry Rhubarb Witbier as it is the perfect crushable summer treat.
PINTS & PLATES: Garrison Red Ale Beef Ragu

Located at 1149 Marginal Rd, Halifax, NS, Garrison Brewing is one of the original Nova Scotia craft breweries. They have been in operation since 1997 and started second to the now non existent Granite Brewery. Their primary brewery is their seaport location, but they have expanded to the old Oxford Theatre where they have paid homage to their original Halifax location. Both locations are historic and have a cool vibe that is both interesting and welcoming. The buildings’ interior design takes you back in time. Garrison makes a wide range of tasty beers, from sours and seasonals to IPAs, and their original red ale. Our pick is their Lil Juicy IPA as it’s tropical and Moreish without the abv of its older sibling.
PINTS & PLATES: Propeller Pilsener Poached All Beef Dogs with Cheesy Beer Sauce

In operation since 1997, with four locations in both Halifax and Dartmouth, NS, Propeller Brewing Co is one of the original Nova Scotia craft breweries. Their first brewery was on Gottingen Street in Halifax, and they have been brewing at that location ever since. At first, the only two brews Propeller made were their Extra Special Bitter and their Pale ale, but they soon expanded their lineup to make Nova Scotia's first true IPA, and that changed the Nova Scotia craft beer scene forever. Propeller has continued to expand and now make everything from stouts to non-alcoholic lagers. Our pick is an original from one of the OGs, their ESB. It’s a classic bitter that still holds its own to this day.

Located at 2736 Robie St, Halifax, NS, Good Robot Brewing Company is a self proclaimed brewery, bar, restaurant, and beer garden run by a pack of misfits in the heart of Halifax’s historic North End. They host community events, brew eccentric beers, and have recently opened a second location in Elmsdale. This brewery is fun to follow as their videos and marketing are absolutely fantastic. The crew at Good Robot know how to have a good time. Our pick is their Diablo Mexican Lager as it’s refreshing with a touch of spice and zing.
