5218 Prince Street, Halifax, NS

The Press Gang is a Halifax institution. Not only is it housed in one of the oldest buildings in the city, but it’s also one of the most haunted. Stepping into this space is like stepping back in time. The exposed stone, in addition to the cellar like feel to the whole place is nothing less than magical.

The food here is always solid. They have a good selection of local oysters from all over Atlantic Canada.  Their menu is fairly traditional, but it’s really well prepared and their chefs cook with passion. They also genuinely care that all their guests are having a great time. Their customer service is among the best.

The Press Gang has an extensive Scotch and fine spirits list. They have lots of classic cocktails that match the vibe of the restaurant and they’re happy to talk you through what’s on offer on any given night.  Occasionally they even have rare and sought after bourbons like Old Rip Van Winkle or Pappy on offering.

The Press Gang is a great choice if you’re looking for an old-school night out on the town in an historic space with good food. Their menu is approachable to most, their service is exceptional, and the atmosphere is uniquely theirs.
